Middle C note will not play????? please help

Hello All,

For some reason all of a sudden my middle C note (not the actual middle C key on the keyboard) is not working. When i hit octave up or down the middle C wont sound on the C key an octave above or below the middle C. I don;t know if i changed a preference or something but it is really confusing me.

Is it a midi preference?

i'm pretty sure it is not the keyboard because when i open up garageband the middle c works fine.

Please, any suggestions....

thank you for your time,

Seth

Hi Seth,
your question is a little confusing.

Are you hitting "octave up or down" on your keyboard?
Does every note behave erratically like this, or just "middle C"?
What are you trying to achieve musically with this?

Please update your profile to include the Logic version, computer model and operating system you are running.

That will help us a lot to answer your question.

Hello Sonther -

Thank you for your response on this matter! I ended up going out of town after posting my problem and returned last night, which is why it took me long to reply.

The only note that is behaving eratically is the middle C note.

I am pressing octave up and down on my keyboard. When I hit octave up, i cannot hear the middle C note an octave above the middle C key on the keyboard.

In terms of what I want to achieve musically - I want to be able to play a keyboard part in Logic and hear the middle C note when I stirke the keyboard. I just don't understand what it could be?

When I open up Garage Band i can hear the middle C note when i strike the keyboard. In Logic it just does not work.

Does this make sense to you?

Thank you for your help and time!

-Seth

Check that you haven't inadvertedly:

- assigned your MIDI note to a key command. Open the key commands window and check for any key commands that have a MIDI assignment

- turned "MIDI Remote" on with a trigger note of middle C (in your preferences)

- assigned your MIDI note in the controller assignments window

If you've checked all that, the next thing to do would be to close all songs, and select File -> New Song while holding Option (might be shift or control, I forget offhand). This will rebuild a new default song. Does Logic still exhibit the wonky middle C behaviour now? If not, then it was probably something in your environment of your existing songs, so that will give you a clue where to look.

If it still does it, trash your preferences and control surface preferences and restart Logic. The behaviour should have definitely gone now, indicating the offender was in the preferences somewhere that you may have missed.

When you've done all that, get back to us 😉
