do the math? Sorry for asking a question!
Precisely. I am going under the assumption that Apple will consider the cable user damaged and not defective as it apparently worked for some time. Applecare+ will replace a user damaged device for a cost of $49.00 which would be the entire phone and you would get a new cable. I don't know for certain if Apple would replace the cable gratus under the warranty. May depend highly on the person in the Apple store. Given a choice between $38.00 for two cables or $49.00 for a device replacement I would opt for the cables.

Yes. It covers everything that comes in the box with the phone.
Considering the replacement cost for the phone is $50, but a new cable is $19, do the math. Just buy a couple of new cables. Cables will wear over time and fail.
Thanks so much!
@raymond73.......do the math? Sorry for asking a question! I know how much the cables are and I wanted to make sure it was something that was covered.

Unless they are simply not working and are not damaged.
They may be covered even if they are simply are "worn out".
Certainly worth asking about. If Apple says they are user damaged" and not covered, then just buy the cables.
In any case, Apple will NOT replace an iPhone unless the iPhone is actually damaged and not working correctly.
Apple will not replace iPhone simply for cosmetic damage.
Applecare+ will replace a user damaged device for a cost of $49.00
Apple will replace a user damaged iPhone (now $79, not $49).
A cable is not replaced for $49/$79
Apple will only replace a malfunctioning/non-working item. If the cable is bad, they will not replace the iPhone.
I called apple and as long as you have AppleCare plus they will replace the cord.

My Applecare+ for my iPhone 5 replacement cost is indeed $49. Since the user was talking about a 4s a guess was made that the device was purchased, along with Applecare+ before the price increase.

Indeed they will. Drop the phone and dent the case, with Applecare+ you can get the device replaced.

Good to know.

Have yet to hear of a single incident of this happening.
Regardless, they will not replace your iPhone because the cable is bad.
