Treble v. Bass Levels

I have MacBook Pro 10.9, and I was wondering is there anywhere I can change the audio output so as to adjust the treble and bass levels?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

I've never seen built in functionality for bass/treble adjustment.

I've only used third party programs that provide

all the equalizer functionality:

Thanks for the help! I downloaded one of your suggestions, Boom, after weighing my options, and I am a very happy person; finally I can get the bass to a good level. Doubt I'll ever be able to go back to the way it was before.
