    Welcome!

First, let's figure out exactly eMac variant you have. Two of the four sub-families of eMacs had systemic hardware issues.

Please use the instructions on this Apple KB page:

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2395

to locate the serial number and, from that, find the sub-model in the chart.

PLEASE don't post your actual serial number--just the model name [ex: eMac (ATI Graphics)]

Does the comptuer continue to boot to a workable state?

The eMac is from 2005 it's last three digits in the serial number is scg and it does boot so you can use it and when it books the apple loading screen takes up the full screen but the desktop is very small in the middle of the screen.

That code is for the 1.42ghz model, the last and best eMac. Based on history here, they are also remarkably trouble-free. Makes it harder to quote the "usual suspects!"

Is the "very small in the middle of the screen" image distorted in any way? Is everything around it black?

What happens when you start the computer while holding SHIFT during boot. When doing this, continue holding SHIFT until yo usee a meassage about "safe moe" or get a usable desktop. The safe mode boot takes longer so give it time to work.

If you have system install/restore disks, see if the condition persists when you boot from a system disk.

It is not distorted in any way and is useable but oddly when I move the mouse below the dock I can see it and when I start it up the apple boot screen takes up the whole screen. The area around the desktop is black I already tryed to restore the system.

BD, he says Panther in his original post but, according to the MacTracker database, that model originally shipped with 10.4 Tiger.

Macintosh12354, can you see your "About this Mac" window enough to read the OS version.

Also might be helpful if you can take a photo with a camera of phone and upload it here.

I wonder if Panther isn't the problem?

Macintosh12354, did it ever go full screen since you had it?

I'm sure you've given up now a year later, but the cause of this is using the wrong set of install discs (i.e. the ones that shipped with an iMac or older eMac) instead of the ones that came with the computer. The fix is to reinstall the OS using either the original discs that came with the computer, or to use retail discs that were sold after this eMac was made.
