Horizontal Lines through pointer arrow

My pointer arrow has 3 horizontal lines in through it (see picture below). Sometimes infrequently the lines appear on the screen as well but go away. Did a clean Maverick install. The lines in the pointer went away for about 3 weeks, but just came back. Any theories and/or suggestions? Hardware problem? Software problem?

Macbook Air 11-inch, Mid 2012 Processor 1.7 GHz Intel Core i5 Memory 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3Graphics Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MBSoftware OS X 10.9.2 (13C64)

I am having the same issue suddenly. It seems that my mouse arrow is sluggish and won't allow me to click directly on places that I used to click (adobe menu bar as example). Any ideas?

Not indicative of a GPU glitch, rather an OSX glitch in the parameter of the arrow icon.

Contact Apple for appt. for free in shop diagnosis and possible repair, however likely recommended OSX reinstall.

Let Apple verify the fault in diagnosis before any determination is made.

Thanks, I did reinstall OSX and it seems to have solved this issue. Everyting that was occuring this week now is corrected. Thanks

Thanks for your help. I probably should go to the Mac store, but it's pretty far away so I'm trying to solve it on my own. After I did the clean install, the problem cleared up for a few weeks, but just came back. If it were a software issue, why would come back?

Yes, that had to be it, GPU wouldnt cause that.

If it were a software issue, why would come back?

Since I assume you did an online recovery, then no.

Negative, ghost rider. I skipped amateur hour. I whiped the drive and did a clean install with a USB boot disk.
