What version of iMovie will work on my 2007 MacBook running Snow Leopard?

I just purchased a refurbished 2007 MacBook off of ebay. I purchased this MacBook simply to be able to edit my videos on iMovie. Turns out that's not so simple! I'm unable to download Mavericks. I'd rather pay for a copy of iMovie that will work with Snow Leopard than purchase Mountain Lion then find a copy of iMovie that will work with it. If anybody could advise me on what version of iLife will work with Snow Leopard 10.6.8 I will rush to purchase it and be forever grateful for you. I've always been a Microsoft/Windows user so please no heavy Mac jargon because I just can't comprehend it. The model number of my MacBook is A1181.

Mac OS X (10.6.8)

iLife 11 will work on 10.6 OS, however they only update to a specific version, and will not go higher.

For example, if you purchase iLife 11 DVD disks, you can install all the iLife softeware, but

- iPhoto will only upgrade to 9.2.3

- iMovie will only upgrade to 9.0.4

- GarageBand will only upgrade to 6.0.5

To get the software versions to go higher, you must upgrade to a newer OS.

Refer to the following article to see if you can upgrade - http://www.apple.com/osx/specs for the supported computer models.
