Ok, so I did not know about this and kept my iPad in the parked car on a hot day and now the screen is dimmed/black. It is back at room temperature for over 12 hrs now and still not turning back on despite reboot. How long should I wait? What should I do?

Ok, so I took an appointment with the so-called 'Genius Bar' and got my ipad checked. They said it will cost me $250 and even that is for a 'swap', meaning I would lose whatever I had. Brokenhearted, I came home and searched more on Apple communities. Surely this simple issue cannot be a $250 loss (+ loss of invaluable personal data). Then, I found Riley Stewart's recommendation at https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5020746. Lo and behold! Couple of kneeling sessions on the ipad and it was as good as it was before! Made me think - 'Genius Bar', really?!!
Have it checked at an Apple store or Authorized Service Center.
