Does anyone know how to recover iphone 3g from restore mode???

I tried to restore via itunes but it fails evry time and now i am stuck with the restore screen... PLz help

itunes had an Unknown Error while restoring your iphone...

Does it usually Takes a lot of attempts or is this some technocal problem?
