Can't move apps on iPhone to another page

Just tried to rearrange my apps on my iPhone using iTunes. They won't budge. What gives? I also can't move them directly on my iPhone. Is there a magic button I should press?

I just figured this out from this page: http://www.iphonehacks.com/2015/09/how-to-move-or-delete-apps-on-iphone-6s-witho ut-triggering-3d-touch-quick-actions.htm…

With the introduction of new features such as Home screen Quick Actions using 3D Touch, we’re hearing that some iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus users are having trouble putting the app icons on the Home screen in wiggle mode to move or delete them. They end up triggering Home screen Quick actions because of 3D Touch.

Here are some tips on how to move or delete apps on your iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus to avoid accidentally triggering Quick Actions because of 3D Touch.

How to move or delete apps on iPhone 6s

  • Go to the Home screen.
  • Now, gently place your finger lightly on the app icon you want to move or delete, and wait for a few seconds to put it in jiggle mode. Note, you can no longer press firmly on the app icon as it would trigger Quick Actions.
  • Tip: If you’re still triggering Quick Actions then the foolproof method is to find a folder like Extras, and place your finger or press as firmly as you want on the folder, and wait for a few seconds to put the app icons and folders in jiggle mode. Since folders don’t have Quick Actions, it doesn’t matter how firmly you press on them without accidentally triggering Quick Actions.

You are correct. Arranging apps through iTunes has changed.

You certainly are not dense.

It is not always easy to do. I have posted to other discussions such as this. You are not the only person who has struggled to get it to work. Most get it eventually. If you keep trying, you will too and after you do it once, it gets easier.

Either way, I am glad you were able to get it set the way you want.

When moving apps on screen I find it helpful to try to "Grab" the app icon I am moving as far to the left as I can if I am moving it to a screen that is to the right and as far to the right if I am moving it to a screen that is to the left. The trick is to get the icon past the half way point on the edge of the screen. Then it will jump to the next screen.

Be careful the first few times you do this. If you stop moving the icon on top of another one iOS will think you are trying to put those two apps in a folder and create a folder for you. You can then drag the app back out but it can get to be annoying.

It just takes practice.
