Q: I've downloaded Mavericks, but cannot set up the installation.

I've downloaded Mavericks, but cannot set up the installation. The clock just keeps turning, and I can't continue or exit. Any idea of what to do next? I believe my system meets the requirements, although I'm not real sure of the age (I think I purchased mid 2007 or early 2008).

Mid 2007 or later should be ok > OS X Mavericks: System Requirements

How long has the installation taken so far? On a high speed broadband connection, it should take about 45 mins to an hour.

It took about 2 hours to download, but since then I cannot set up the installation. The screen is there, but its frozen.

ghighigirl,

Is this what happened? You were running snow leopard and downloaded Mavericks. At the end of the download a screen popped up saying "install Mavericks" and asked you to select "Macintosh HD". At this point, you saw it load some files and then a reboot but is now stuck?

Running Snow Leopard, downloaded Mavericks. Frankly I don't recall it asking which drive to load it. Then it went to a screen that says Install OS X at the top. In the middle, it says "to set up the installation of OS X Mavericks, click continue. I can't click continue.
