All my settings seem correct but more often than not, Mail will not fetch new messages. Connection Doctor confirms all is well, but it will not download the new mail. Any thoughts?

Who is your eMail provider, the part after the @ sign?
highlight that Mailbox & choose Rebuild from Mail's Mailbox menu item. Any change?
For this mailbox the rebuild option is faded out and I can't access it. For the other mailboxes it is an active option. It is gmail.
And that's after expanding the Inbox & highlighting the gmail box in there?
