Beloved Macbook crashes frequently - Bootcamp never crashes?

My faithful Macbook (late 2008), running the most recent update of Mavericks crashes about every 15 - 30 minutes, without fail. I get the dreaded multilanguage error screen.

What is very interesting is that I recently used bootcamp (XP SP3) for an entire 2 days (48 hours non-stop earlier this week) in order to use my PC based accounting package for my business and the Macbook never crashed! When I restarted back into Mavericks (10.9.2) the Macbook crashed within 20 minutes. I have left the Console running and I kept a copy of the error report that was sent to Apple. The Macbook has crashed 4 times already this morning. Its very abrupt, a black screen appears instantly, shortly afterward the multilingual language screen, telling me to wait or press a key to restart, appears.

Where do I start? Does anyone have any useful links to suggest to guide me? I have tried several google searches, but havent come up with a solution.

I dont think that this is a hardware issue, as the Macbook never crashed while in Bootcamp and running XP.

Any help much appreciated, thank you!

Lyle
