Is there a better way to write using the Score Editor?

I am familiar with music notation and prefer to write in that fashion rather than with a keyboard. I do have a MIDI keyboard accessible, but I only use it to jam or throw something together on the fly.

Now I find the Score Editor in Logic Pro X to be rather squirrelly for lack of a better word, and find the note input in programs like MuseScore, GuitarPro, and Finale to be much more preferable over Logic's editor.

Is there a way to make the Score Editor in Logic Pro X more like those mentioned above or perhaps a plug-in to replace or change the one in Logic?
