Macbook A1342 boots but display is white but external works

I have a macbook a1342 that the internal display on shows white. External display works and the machine boots and runs fine (im writing this message on it). This all occured after fixing the magport which was super loose. I was told that i probably broke the LVDS cable which i have since replaced but nothing has changed. I've been wanting to run AHT but it wont display to an external display. PRAM/NVRAM and SMC have both been reset. One thing to note is when doing the NVRAM reset the screen does change to grey but then immediately back to grey. Also the brightness adjustments still work.

Im at a complete loss as to what the issue can be (although i suspect and dread that it is the logic board) and wondering if anyone has any ideas on things to try or potential issues that it might be. My thinking if the display turns on and the external display works that a hardware failure seems unlikely.

thanks again

There are two MacBook model identifiers that use this A1342 number;

so to be sure which one you have, use the serial number when part

numbers or other specifics are involved.

MacBook7.1 EMC 2395 (13-inch, Mid-2010) 2.4GHz (P8600 Penryn)

Order Number MC516LL/A - Max memory: 16GB Actual.

MacBook6.1 EMC 2350 (13-inch, Late 2009) 2.26GHz (P7550 Penryn)

Order Number MC207LL/A - Max memory: 8GB Actual.

Also, these MacBook A1342 models do not share Graphic processor.

The main thing these share, other than the iFixit repair guide, may be

some parts not fused to the logic board. I haven't looked into those.

(The batteries are different spec, according to http://mactracker.ca)

There likely may be a hardware reason for the failure of internal display

to show data while it still appears to get backlight power. There is a

circuit and cable, so there should be another part to replace; or a

bad connection somewhere. Something is amiss if the AHT won't run.

Maybe the 'display data/camera cable' is bad?

These items can be hard to troubleshoot.

Good luck & happy computing! 🙂
