I am not able to close Microsoft Database Daemon or SyncServicesAgent applications to install Office 2011 14.4.1 update. Could you assist me? Thanks in advance

Disconnect from the internet, and make sure all Office processes are closed. Then try again.

The updater should close those processes for you - it didn't used to do so but should now.

If it won't quit the processes for you, open Activity Monitor (Applications>Library folder), search for the processes and quit them. You should be able to install the update now.

I just find it odd that the updater isn't quitting the processes on its own..

I have had my 15" MacBook Pro for about 8 months now and the updater has never closed those apps (or processes) and I have probably done at least 5-6 updates in that time period. I go through this every single time.

tried this several times and it failed. processes don't close and keep re-appearing in list. can you offer any other advice? haven't been able to update in months due to this problem. I tried re-starting my computer and repeating but that didn't help.

Our last link to the Dark Side - and they are still screwing with us! To install the update, start MS Outlook, click Outlook > Preferences, and then choose Sync Services under Other. Uncheck all boxes and then quit Outlook. You should now be able to install the update for Office.

Nope. That didn't work either. This is a pain every time they update. Whenever I see an update I cringe. It NEVER does it on it's own and never has. Manually quitting them doesn't work either. Once you quit one by the time you have quit the other the original one you quit starts back up again. Any idea what to do now??
