I have problems with my iMessage. I can!t connect my account and it prevents me from sending messages. What should I do?

I bought recently a new IPad mini. I tried to connect my iMessage but it says that I have to check my internet connection and try again. I did many times but without a result... I tried to reconnect my icloud account but it didn't change anything.

What should I do?
