My Mac book pro has frozen on preparing to empty trash, help?

In the process of trying to empty files because of slow operation my Mac book pro has frozen on preparing to empty trash.It wont even re start. Help?

Use the power key, held down for 10-15 seconds, to turn off your computer. Your trashed files should remain in the Trash. Open Terminal (Applications>Utilities folder) and copy and paste the following:


sudo rm -ri ~/.Trash


You'll be prompted for your administrator password and you may get a warning which you can safely ignore.


Your Trash should be emptied.
