Need authorization to move folders, delete....

I am fairly new to the Macbook world. I have a macbook pro retina.

I transferred folders from my dell laptop to the mac when I first got it. Now I am realizing that for some folders in oder to move them, rename, or delete items from them I have to enter my laptop password. I was just dealing with it at first but now it is getting really annoying. How do I go about unlocking these folders so I no longer have to do that?

Keep in mind I am new to the mac world and will need step by step instructions!

Thank you for your time and helping if you can!

It would be nice to be able to move and rename things without having to enter my password everytime. 🙂

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)
