Using sustain pedal as Bass Drum

Use a transformer object in your environment window and either patch it directly into your sequencer input or to a track.

As for the authenticity, I question that part considering that there is no "feel" to a sustain pedal.

Different yes. Authenticity, though, only in the respect of tapping your foot on a switch as opposed to hammering it on a keyboard. A variable controlled foot pedal would sound more authentic. A sustain pedal would produce a more robotic type of kick feel. It wouldn't sound any different than playing it on a keyboard.

It's simply, really. Open your Environment Window (make a fresh layer) and create a new Transformer Object. Double click on the object to open it up and edit it to look for the MIDI control code (you want to look for a MIDI CC) and value for your sustain pedal. You can then replace it with the MIDI note of your kick drum.

Once you are done, you can select the Midi tool and with your object selected, drag it to a track. Then play away.

You would still be editing the Transformer Object. Whatever note you would be hitting on your keyboard to trigger your kick, that's the note you need to enter as the replacement value in your transformer object.
