OSX 10.1 is a very outdated operationg system and you airport card  will only communicate with you wireless router if you set security back to the WEP standard  (i guess it is set to WPA or WPA2 now)

You have got a iBook Clamshell with firewire, so you can run OSX 10.3 Panther (128MB RAM min) which allows you to use WPA Standard, but you have to buy a used black CD version.

If your iBook has a DVD drive and min 256 MB RAM you may run OSX  10.4 Tiger , the retail version was released on a black DVD.

Some of the newer USB wifi adapters (probably the one you mentioned) support OSX 10.4 Tiger, but you have to ask the seller before buying this product. They also support newer standards such as WPA2.

Your iBook has a recessed USB port, so may be a USB wifi adapter with a usb cable

Thanks for the answer! So if I buy more RAM i can install 10.3 phanter and then I will be able to use WPA Standard? This means that then I will be able to use my airport card with the wireless I have and I will be able to introduce a password into the wifi network?

Check you router manual if a mixed mode wpa/wpa2 is possible

Check your airpord card if 128 bit is printed on the label. (there are older versions of the card which only support WEP)

When you put your airport card back in, press it firmly into the socket, so that a good contact is established

When you have successfully installed OSX 10.3 Panther, upgrade via apple - softwareupgrade to 10.3.9

Its 128 Bits one! So If I check that my modem is wpa/wpa2 and I install 10.3.9 I will be able to use my wifi connection with password?
