I tried to download Mavericks but got message "Error occurred". How can I abort whatever went wrong and get a successful download?
iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)
Make sure your Mac can run Mavericks > OS X Mavericks: System Requirements
Apps such as Little Snitch, Growl, and MacKeeper can prevent apps from downloading
Disable anti virus software if installed
Make sure the firewall is turned off in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Firewall
System is ok on all the above. I contacted Apple Support who said this happens sometimes and I should shut down and re-start in Safe mode (depress Shift key while starting up until Apple logo appears). This allowed me to download again but it stopped at 5.30Mb of 5.30Mb and 8 min left then said an error has occurred. I repeated a shut down and safe re-start and exactly the same thing happened again.
Cracked it now - had not realised Growl would be in System Preferences (had looked in Applications). The download worked after deleting Growl. Oddly, Growl was also on my Macbook Air and did not cause a problem when downloading Mavericks to that. Thanks for the help.
I cannot download Mavericks - it is stuck on "error occurred". How do I get around this?
