Q: Mac Pro OS upgrade from Snow leopard

What are my best upgrade options for a 2005-2006 era mac pro 1.1 with snow leopard installed?  Looking to install Mavericks but my system is not cpmpatible.

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

    The question is: what do you need to upgrade FOR?

    Do you use particular software that requires Mavericks?

     

    If you currently have versions of software that work well on Snow Leopard, then I would leave everything alone.

    Apple no longer offers Lion on the App Store, IIRC, so you may be stuck.

     

    There are some hacks to make 10.9 run on earlier hardware, but I don't know the specifics.
