Disassociating me.com email address

Q: Is there a way of disassociating my @me.com address from my icloud.com address?

Since 2008 I have used a xxx@me.com email address.

In recent weeks, I've started to receive an abundance of spam emails - anywhere between 50/100 a day. It's become such a pain. I find the rules/filters options in iCloud to be insufficient (the spam companies use different addresses, subject, etc).

I *really* like my username, it'd be a shame to use it as it is simply my full name. To sign up for a new account would mean signing up with annoying numbers/dashes/dots in the address.

I've realised with the introduction of the new xxx@icloud.com alias, is there anyway of disassociating the @me.com address and moving forward with JUST the icloud.com address?
