Launch App store.

Click the Purchase tab at the top.

Take your internet download speed, example 2 mbits/sec
Divide by 8 is 250kBytes per sec

Mavericks is 5GBytes, so 5,000,000,000 divided by 250,000 is 20,000 seconds or 5.5 hours.

Now substitute your internet speed.
