Does anyone know if I bought a Airport Express that I could easily set it up and use it to get wireless in a dead spot at my home? From the apple blurb on website it appears to confirm it Can!
The AirPort Express would not wirelessly "extend" or "repeat" the signal from your D-Link router.
You should look to D-Link for a compatible "repeater" or "extender".
