I movie 10.0.3 audio problems

I have created an imovie 10.0.3 and made a DVD of it. The sound is "tinny" in spots. Is it possible to adjust portions of an i'move audio clip that have some red or yellow sound waves without lowering the entire clip?

Also wondering if sound quality gets lost when a DVD is made? Any helpful hints would be welcome!
