How to disable Safari smart search field completely

Hello,

I know this has been started before, but I can't find a clear answer, and wanted to bring this to the Apple support team as a suggestion and question. So I'm gonna start by saying I don't like the smart field search. This is phishing for information and is a privacy and performance drag. Overall, smart field search suggestions provided by safari is just a plain inconveinent.

Even disabling search engine suggestions does not disable suggestions, Sarfari still suggests when I type.

So, to recap, I want to disable all suggestions in the search field/smart field search. When I type I don't want see anything other than what I'm deliberately addressing. This is why the two search field needs to come back, having suggestions in the same place as the url field is annoying.

Any suggestions? And don't say use Chrome, because I've already left that browser for apple's native and better browser.
