Hard Drive Replacement

Hello everyone,

I have done some searches but am having difficultly accepting the answer I am coming up with and I'm wondering if I have any alternatives. I have a 27inch iMac. Late 2009. MB952LL/A per the serial number. The HD crapped out yesterday and I need a replacement. The only thing I have found is the "

" from machdds dot com. Is this really the only replacement. I have built many a pc and just pick the HD I'd like from a huge selection. I find this new situation to be highly unlikely. Do I have any other choices for an easy plug in solution without having to worry about the run away fan issue or something else?

It looks like I was part of the HD failure recall but I it appears I am out of the window for replacement. I never got notified or missed the notification.
