turn icloud on

I thought I may give iCloud a try but have not been able to work out how to turn it on.

I go into settings/iCloud and it says that it is off, but no option to turn it on.

The only instructions I have seen on how to do it, have nothing in common with reality!

If you signed into iCloud with your Apple ID, that would have created your account. Then you only need to turn on the data you want to sync with icloud by turning on the sliders in Settings>iCloud. That turns on data syncing with iCloud, and you will be able to view the synced data on other devices sharing the account, as well as on icloud.com.

Just for the record - although there may not be an off setting my ipod said icloud was off. There was no sign in screen as this had been done. My Apple ID was in the account field and I could select all the options. Now that it has mysteriously started working the only difference is there is no more iCloud isoff message.

Very strange indeed.

Anyway, like I said, it is now working so all is good - thanks for the responses.
