and a 2014 21.5" imac both running osx mav. is there ANY way to do thunderbolt to hdmi, and use an hdmi converter on the mdp and plug them in that way!??

hi, i know i cant do minidisplay port to thunderbolt. i have a macbook pro late 2009 and a 2014 21.5" iMac both running osx Mav.

Is it possible to do thunderbolt to hdmi and use an hdmi adapter from mdp? Can I connect them this way!???

I tried just using a mdp cable to plug in to both because I read it was backwards compatible on the iMac, but it didnt work. Help meh!
