hi, i know i cant do minidisplay port to thunderbolt. i have a macbook pro late 2009 and a 2014 21.5" iMac both running osx Mav.
Is it possible to do thunderbolt to hdmi and use an hdmi adapter from mdp? Can I connect them this way!???
I tried just using a mdp cable to plug in to both because I read it was backwards compatible on the iMac, but it didnt work. Help meh!

If your computer does not have Thunderbolt, you can't use a Thunderbolt display. There are no adapters or cables that will help.
Like I said, i have a 2014 Mac, it has Thunderbolt, but the macbook doesnt. There's not way of making them a dual display? the macbook pro has a minidisplay port which i heard was backwards compatible

A Thunderbolt computer is compatible with a Mini DisplayPort display, but a Mini DisplayPort computer is not compatible with a Thunderbolt display.
