Transparent vertical lines in ipod touch screen

I've had it since release, typical wear and tear on it but its been fine. I was using it then set it down and watched as these lines appeared, already factory reset it, turned off and on over and over. Any ideas or suggestions?

iPod touch (5th generation), iOS 7.1

If you successfully restored (went through all steps without error) to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes (Not via Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Setting) and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store..
