Last week, I purchased OS X Lion. I've spent hours trying to download Lion without success! Apple Support has been NO HELP!!! Downloading Lion has been a NIGHTMARE!!! Can anyone help me?

You would have to start by telling us why you can't download it. What happens when you try? What issues are you encountering? What error messages are you getting? What have you already tried?

Here is what happened; I started the download and the bar moved only about a quarter of an inch, then stopped. Support told me to go to the "purchased" page and try again. I did and no improvement. Then I was told to move my laptop closer to my wireless modem. I did. Still no improvement. I got the impression that my internet was too weak, so I drove to a local McDonalds, where they have a strong WiFi. Now, when I try to download Lion, Apple kicks me out completely. Yes, I used my password and username, I have an Apple account, which was accepted without incident.
This should have been a snap! Why is Apple doing this to me?
I forgot to add, I have a 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB memory, 2006 MacBook Pro, in perfect condition.
I am using Snow Leopard and there are no error messages. I just click on "download", it spins for about half a minute, then "download" pops back on, as if nothing had happened.
Oh yes, it also says; "The item you've requested is not currently available in the U.S. store."
Why does Apple sell an unavailable items?

How much free space do you have on your hard drive (you need at least 7GB)?
What version of Snow Leopard are you running?
Did you order OSX Lion from the Apple Store and are now trying to use a Content Code?
At what point did the error message concerning the item not being available in the US Store? What were you doing when that error occurred?

Will a 2006 mb pro, 2.33, run 10.7?
If it is a model identifier 2,2 MacBook Pro, Yes it will run Lion.
