That depends - do you want to use a unified Aperture/iPhoto library? And do you stil ahve iPhoto 8.1.2 libraries?

Is your Aperture version Aperture 3.5.1 as recommended for Mavericks? And do you want to open your iPhoto libraries in Aperture or to import them into Aperture?

Then you will need to update iPhoto to iPhoto 9.5.1. Aperture 3.5.1 can only open or import compatible iPhoto libraries. So you need to run iPhoto 9.5.1 at least once on your iPhoto libraries, to be able to use them with Aperture 3.5.1.

iPhoto 8.1.2 will not run on Mavericks. See this post by Old Toad for Mavericks compatible iPhoto versions:
