Help with itunes Match and lost imported music please!

Hi!

I recently bought a Mac moving from Windows. Before I transferred everything over I backed up my large music collection (mostly imported CD's) onto icloud. When I downloaded icloud on my new Mac I realised that it only imported the purchased music not my CD's. I then subscribed to Match, but this has not made any diffirence.

I don't have my old laptop anymore.

Is there anyway I can recover all my old CD's?

Thanks for reading! 🙂

Hi,

If you did not have match on your old laptop, you could not have backed your music to the cloud. The music needs to be in your itunes library when you subscribe to match.

You should not rely on match as a back up service https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4112. It is up to you to keep a back up on an external drive of your personal detail.

You will need to restore your music from your original CD's if you still have them.

Thanks for your reply Jim.

OK I thought I had backed them up on icloud, maybe this was not the case and had I known obviously I would of subscribed to match before changing laptops. I did back up my itunes on an external hard drive, however I later discovered that I had not done this correctly.

I realise that I have lost my entire music collection and I am devasted about this, I posted on here to see if there was any hope! - being patronised isn't particuarly helpful.

I don't have my CD's as I gave them all away once ripped.

Juliette.
