Constant Facetime Connection

Everytime I facetime on my laptop it connects but it never goes through. It just says connecting but it never connects. What is the problem and how can I fix it?

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2012), iOS 7.1

Hi,


Do you have an iPhone you can test with ?


On the Mac version call the iPhone number and see if you can video to yourself.

If this works test from iPhone to Mac by calling the Apple ID that FaceTime is using.


If neither of these work go to System Preferences > Security and Privacy (I am in Mavericks and it may be called just Security)

In the firewall section check the Advanced setting.

It should not be doing Stealth. (this Blocks pings and iChat and FaceTime use Pings to confirm where you sent the invite is the same place that is responding).

Also check your router is not blocking responses to Pings.


Also check Date and Time and Time Zone in your Date and Time settings (System Preferences) agrees with the date and time set in the router.
