Fast repair time??

I sent my computer in last night to applecare to get a problem with a gap between the display and bottom of the computer fixed. I checked the status of the repair a few minutes ago and my macbook repair is already in progress. Thats seems pretty fast to me.

At this rate do you think it will be here sooner then 5 business days?

I asked the same question the other day and got mocked by a bunch of snide jerks on the boards. I sent mine off for RSD - it was picked up on Friday afternoon at like 5 pm and I am typing on my repaired and operational (seemingly) MacBook right now, and it's Tuesday night. It actually got here today about lunchtime. They replaced my heatsync, cover, and an assortment of other components, so fixing a gap should be pretty quick I would think.

I wouldn't worry. as i've just found out...they can be very fast.

It really depends. If the parts that are needed for your repair are in stock then the turn around is really fast. That's the problem with the MacBooks. They just haven't been out long enough and there's been problems with them enough that the supply of parts just isn't up to snuff.

I don't have any personal knowledge of how fast the MacBooks are going but I sent my old PowerBook off to get the modem replaced and had it back in three days. So a five day turn around wouldn't be unheard of.

should be. It only took me 3 business days to get my macbook's top case replaced as well as the random shutdown fixed (i was expecting 3 weeks!). Apple used fedex overnight shipping for my macbook. So if ur computer's problem isn't too odd for them to figure out or it doesn't have to wait for any parts, the repair process can be finished the same day they receive it. So You very possibly can get it back within 2 days.

I called mine in to Apple last Thursday (Aug 17th) for a bad superdrive. I received the DHL box Friday and dropped it off at a DHL branch that night. Even with the weekend, it was in a "repairing" state Monday and was shipped out Monday night. It was overnighted and I received it this (Tuesday) morning .

So in all from calling it in, to my door....5 days (with the weekend).

Thanks everyone for your input! Yah by the sound of it I think my macbook should be returned very quickly.

It was overnighted last night, today it said it was getting repaired, and a couple hours ago it said product return pending.

I hope it comes tommarrow...the day before I move for schoool. That would be very convenient and save me a lot of trouble.
