Q: why won't my brand-new iPod Touch connect via BlueTooth in my Volvo? My old one did!

Very interesting, but frustrating, too. The iPod shows (in Settings): Bluetooth On; devices--cell phone (not paired); MacBook (not paired). Nothing about the car. In the car, it wants me to punch in a four-digit code. HOW? Where?
This is crazy because my old iPod does this.

Anyone have a clue?

You have to put the car in discovery mode usually before connecting to it.

What is the year, and model of your volvo?

What I don't get is why the new iPod is so different. Why would my old iPod work in this same car?

The iPod will not pair with a computer. The iPod will only pair with yur car is your car supports one of the BT profiles that is supported by the iPod

Does the manufacturer of the car system say it will work with your model iPod and its iOS?
