I imported my entire iphoto and they are now thumbnails

Rule 1 - NEVER do that - do not ever import an iPhoto library into another iPHoto library - it does not work and created a massive mess

assuming that you still have access to the original library drag the bad library to the trash (wait to empty until after completing this successfully) and then drag the old library to the pictures folder (default location) and launch iPhoto
