Well

Nothing is automatically deleted by iPhoto

So

to get help you need to tell us what version of iPhoto you have, what recent changes you have made, what has been going on with your Mac and any other clues

And as to the "show package" thing - Don't do it except under expert direction - going into the inside of the iPhoto library is extremely dangerous and a very simple mistake can destroy your library - it is even possible that your doing that in the past could be he cause of your current problem

and note that not having a backup is a really poor decision - it 100% guarantees that sooner or later you will lose your photos - and all other files - this might be the time for your photos - your Mac comes with free excellent backup software - TimeMachine - using it is as simple as purchasing a large hard drive (roughly 2 1/2 times your main drive formatted Mac OS extended (journaled)) and plugging it in and launching TM if it does not auto launch - bad decision to skip this

No

WHat is annoying is to take time to read questions, research and type answers only to get back "I already tried tha" we could have gone on doing this for days before getting to the end of the list of things you have tried

It looks like your only remaining option is to restore your backup from before this occured

Give this a go:

Starting over from scratch with new library

Start over with a new library and import the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from your original library as follows:

1. Open the library package like this.

User uploaded file

2. Launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.

3. Drag the subfolders of the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from the open iPhoto Library package into the open iPhoto window a few at a time.

User uploaded file

This will create a new library with the same Events (but not necessarily the same Event names) as the original library but will not keep the metadata, albums, books slideshows and other projects.

Note: your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.
