I am using the second display for a projector and when I just project the extended desktop it fills the screen. However with Keynote it is letterboxed (black borders left and right). But it's not just a problem with Keynote - the same thing happens with Mac Powerpoint. Strange thing is this has only just started happening (within the last couple of months) but I can't put my finger on what I changed or updated.

As a follow up to this - is there any way of making this setting global ? I don't want to have to apply it to every document each time.
There is no setting to save the document slide size.
Create a new Keynote file with the slide size you want and save it.
Use this as an empty master presentation any time you need that size.
You could also use a particular theme, master slide, background, shapes and text boxes as a master presentation.
