Select File > Print to display the Print Setup pane. Place your mouse over the spreadsheet page and the header and footer sections will be displayed. To edit the header or footer, click the header or footer fields, then type your text. You can change how the text looks in the Text pane. Each sheet in your spreadsheet has its own header and footer.

To add a smart field to your header or footer, click a header or footer field, then choose Insert > Page Number, Page Count, or Date & Time (from the menu at the top of your computer screen).

This does not update automatically for me.

From the print setup pane I have selected the header and then INSERT/DATE & TIME. Today's date and time get inserted. If I select the text I get a dialog to adjust the format and even to SET TO TODAY. But when I choose a format or click on set to today, nothing happens. No format change, no date change. So EVERYDAY I have to delete the date that is there and re-insert the Not-so-Smart field and I am stuck with the default format.

What am I doing wrong?
