Trouble burning CDs.

iTunes burns and plays the disc fine. But the disc won't play in a standard CD player. Starts out ok, then cuts in and out then nothing. I've tried different brands of discs. I have a 2008 MacBook. Never had issues till now.

MacBook, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

Be sure to check the optical drive for dust, maybe clean the lenses, too.

When it used to work & now doesn't, that may signal optical drive failure.

If the change occurred only after an upgrade to Mavericks, you may need

to look into settings to see if any defaults were changed.

Sometimes a 'system management controller reset' may help if the problem

is based in the computer configuration. But that's a vague concept.

The idea of a second disc burning application is a good one, in case the

matter is an issue with existing software. Burn usually has no conflict with

other software, so it can co-exist.

Here's maker's home page, for same product as above:

Good luck & happy computing! 🙂
