Malware rarely causes any type of slow down, but there are many other causes. Start a new discussion topic describing what is running slower and you should probably run EtreCheck first to give everybody an idea of what you have.

Does ClanXV scan for viruses or malware? Is this at the Apple store?

Yes, but it's spelled ClamXav and if you mean the AppStore, yes, but it can also be downloaded from the web with additional capability. For more information visit ClamXav.

Installing anti-virus software should never be a response to performance issues on a Mac. Mac malware does not generally cause performance problems, if you happen to be unlucky enough to be infected with something. On the other hand, adding additional third-party software - especially third-party software in a class of software where most are known to reduce performance - will only make problems worse and harder to solve.

Take a look at my Mac Performance Guide for some suggestions on how to approach speed problems.
