I exported a multi-project library from my laptop and copied the file over to my iMac.
I then tried to import the library but nothing happened. It just ended and nothing was imported.
Any thoughts? The versions are the same. 3.5.1, the most recent version.
The operating systems are both Mavericks, most recent update.

Have you checked, if the exported library does contain images and is not empty? Just to be sure.
If Aperure is seeing the library to be imported as a copy of the original library, nothing may be imported.
Then this work-around usually does help:

HA! You and I had chatted after my last vacation back in December of 2012. I had the same problem and couldn't figure it out. After going back and forth, I had come up with the "duplicate photo workaround" and shared with everyone.
It had been so long that I had forgotten that it HAD to be a duplicate photo. I tried adding a new non-duplicate photo to the library and it didn't work.
It is so weird that Aperture's file system recognizes differences like this.
Make sure that you tell people to ADD the new library to your Aperture library. The default Merge option doesn't work. It just puts the photos in the same, secondary library location as the original attempted import.
