upgrading to osx mavericks

Hello,

I am thinking of upgrading my IMAC version 10.6.8 to OSX Mavericks. I am not sure which version of games to purchase after this upgrade. Also, will the games I currently have on my computer still be playable?

I have heard there were some problems with Mavericks. Have they been corrected?

Is there anything I should know about OSX Mavericks before I do install?
