In the iTunes Store app, go to your account settings and check your payment details. Otherwise, log out and attempt to buy a paid app/song/movie and use your account details. Just select 'None' from the list of payment options but complete the billing information below!
Also, next time, create your account via purchasing content but then choose 'None'. It cancels the payment but keeps your account open!
If you want, you can also enter your credit card at account open then go and delete it...
