as all computers can fail mother boards hard drive ect to have acopy of my cherished photos and music collection that i can listen to look at on anther machine thats connected to my network sounds a good idea to me

ive had a mother board quit on me and lost a lot of memories and years on with lots more memoirs dont wont to loss any again i know that i can store a copy of the afor mentioned libaries onto External hard drive ,Flash Drives ect but the idea of keeping them in place and allowing access through my personal network apeals to me

How are you connnected to th eTime Capsule and how do you plan to use the drive there?

It is not an appropriate place for your operating iPhoto library - it is for an additional backup

It's not recommended to run an library from a network NAS drive. The following is from this Apple doucment: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5168

Additionally, storing the iPhoto library on a network rather than locally on your computer can also lead to poor performance or data loss

However, if you're going to get a second EHD just connect it directly to your iMac. That's the recommended method. Just be sure it's formatted OS X Extended (journaled).
