Apple Wireless Keyboard Spacebar insensitive

Hi everyone, I'm having problem with my spacebar because the sides are totally not sensitive at all. I just want to know if there should be 'nipples' attached to the sides - just like the one in the middle. This keyboard is unfortunately out of warranty and the insentivity is driving me crazy.

Based on this photo, can anyone check if this isnorm

The wireless keyboard is connected wirelessly to a Macbook air 2012. Actually it doesnt matter what the machine is because this is clearly a hardware issue. And the hardware in question is the spacebar in the photo.

I have attached another photo to show the problem. Based on this new photo, any working apple spacebar should be depressed fully but in my case, the spacebar key wasn't detected at all - you can see that the left and middle portion is still in its original position. This happens on the left side as well, so I'm guessing that there is a 'nipple' missing on both sides of the spacebar.

Please feel free to let me know if you need further clarification.

That's better. Unfortunately the original photo does not show up. Even more unfortunate that the keyboard is out of warranty because it does need attention.

If you have a Premium re-seller in your location you may find that a better place to go; they often have their own workshops. I seem to recall that the letter keys can be prised off and if that is so, chances are the shift key could be similarly removed. Hopefully someone will chip in who knows how to do this.

Wow, thanks for your effort in taking this issue seriously. Didn't expect you to go that far.

Anyway, I have seen the video before posting here and I think I'm having a different keyboard from what the video shows (you can see it in my first photo).

For now, I'm waiting to either chat with an apple service personnel or drop by a service center when I have time. Hopefully they can tell me what's wrong but I suspect that I may have to buy another keyboard because of this...

Well, it was the kind of practical question that was worth exploring. But sadly, as I mentioned, I never saw the original picture ... it comprised of the small blue square with a question mark inside it. But the principle must be the same and having resigned yourself to replacing it, it would be worth dismantling it. Do let us know what transpired in the end.

Thank you for the star.
