Connecting two displays to Macbook Pro

2013 15 MBP Retina i7 quad core

I have a Dell U2711 display connected with a mini displayport to displayport cable. Resolution is working correctly at 2560.

Using the 2nd displayport, and a mini displayport to VGA adapter I connect to a TV. The TV works at 720 just fine but for some reason my Dell monitor then refuses to work at 2560 as it did prior to connecting the TV.

I've tried hold the Option button when selecting Scaled, but it won't show 2560 as a supported res. On occasion it will, but when selecting that res nothing changes.

Then after I remove the 2nd monitor, the Dell won't work at the 2560 again at all unless I remove the apple.windows.plist file from the library/preferences folder.

Is there some kind of Mavericks bug going on here with monitor config?
